Actress. Born on February 14, 1968, in Sacramento, California. Sweet-faced teen star who emerged in the mid-80s, under the guidance of director John Hughes, as the foremost female member of the Hollywood Brat Pack. The daughter of blind jazz musician Bob Ringwald, she began performing at age four with his Great Pacific Jazz Band and at six recorded an album, "Molly Sings". On the legitimate stage from age five, she appeared in plays and TV shows like the "New Mickey Mouse Club" and the series "The Facts of Life" (1979-1980). In films since 1982, she soon enjoyed a meteroic rise that peaked in 1986, when she made the cover of "Time" Magazine. Her box-office appeal receded later in the decade, as she struggled to make the transition to adult roles.
