Actress. Born on March 10, 1958, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, educated at Edinboro University. Dangerously sultry screen lead. After competing in a local beauty contest, she moved to New York, where her well-scrubbed beauty brought her work in commercials. Shortly after settling in Hollywood, she debuted in her first film, Stardust Memories, but it was not until ten years and several varying performances, later that her performance as an overaggressive wife in Total Recall established her as screen presence. Notorious for the way she uncrossed her legs in the interrogation scene in Basic Instinct, her performance as the icy femme fatale in that movie made her one of Hollywood's leading female box-office attractions.
