Actress. Born on May 17, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, educated at California State University (Sociology). Forceful, unadorned screen lead. After spending part of her youth in Israel and serving three months in the Israeli army, she moved to California, where she decided to pursue a serious acting career following a severe accident at a local amusement park at which she was performing. Her performances as fiery, independent women in "Urban Cowboy", "An Officer and a Gentleman" and "Terms of Endearment". Once married to actor Timothy Hutton; they have one son.
